Yulanda Ming Blackson, a NAMI In Our Own Voice presenter from Maryland, faced adversity but found peace with her own mental illness. As the daughter and wife of pastors, she shares her story about mental health and faith in the Black community.

 

Inhabiting The Space That Wasn’t Built For You

Rosemary Ketchum, is the first-ever politically elected trans woman in the state of West Virginia, gaining national attention. She runs the NAMI Wheeling West Virginia drop-in-center and is the youngest person at age 26 to be on their board of directors. She has extensive family experience with mental health and addiction. She addresses the need for LGBTQ+ people to have a place in the room advocating for social change and a stigma-free world.

 

From Secrets To Strength

Poojah Mehta, a rising leader in the Asian American/Pacific Islander mental health community, shares her story of recovery and her focus on amplifying the voices of people who are underrepresented in their communities. She is currently a student at Columbia University working toward a master’s degree in public health and sits on the NAMI New York State Board of Directors.
