Singer Nessa Barrett wants her young fans to know that there is nothing wrong with going to therapy. The TikTok sensation joins a growing list of celebrities and influencers being open and authentic about their experiences with mental health and Borderline Personality Disorder. Kerry Justich writes in Yahoo news about how Ms. Barrett is breaking the mold of pop stardom and relating to her fanbase on her own terms.
“I wish that I had a person that was releasing music or openly advocating for mental health, to [help me] realize that there’s a lot of people that go through it,” the 19-year-old told Seventeen magazine. “If I saw an artist that was successful and they still dealt with mental health, then I would have known it was okay for me as well.”
