Since 2008, the U.S. based advocacy group Mental Health America honors the memory of Bebe Moore Campbell, an American author, journalist, teacher, and mental health advocate “who worked tirelessly to shed light on the mental health needs of the Black community and other underrepresented communities.”
MHA designated July as BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month to bring attention to the unique struggles that Black, Indigenous and People of Color face regarding mental illness in the United States.
You can learn more about this important initiative and related programs on the MHA website.
